Parka & Dad - Home at Last!

After getting up before 3 AM this morning to get ready to leave for the Portland airport at 4 AM, Dad & I are pooped. But we're home in Denver - in spite of a snowstorm that kept mom from being able to meet us at the airport. A very nice young man gave Dad & me a ride to a few blocks from home and Mom picked us up and drove us the rest of the way. After meeting Cuzzie outside and going potty in the snow (YIKES! I have to wear boots just to pee here!), I went inside and met Grandma Margaret. I stayed REAL close to Dad in the beginning.

After feeding me, Dad wasted no time plunking down in his favorite chair. Mom already had the TV tuned to football, and she fed him a meatloaf sandwich and a Coors Light. They make Coors here in Colorado, I think. I'm behind Dad's knees in this picture - you can just see the point of my tail!

After Dad played Kong in the hallway with Cuzzie and me, she calmed down and we did the doggie sniff thing - ya know, that's the way we dogs meet and greet.

I already figured out that if I gave Cuzzie my bone, that would seal the deal between us and we would be buds. (Thanks for the tip, Zane!) I also let Cuzzie take a nap on my blanket in front of the fireplace.

Ah . . . I'm getting sleepy . . . Dad is scritching my head . . .

I'm down for the count . . . my eyes are getting heavy . . .

Here's my version of "frog dog" . . .

. . . my ladylike version, with legs crossed . . . I'm a lady, ya know.

Well, I think this is going to be all right here in Denver . . . oh heck, Dad wants to go for a potty walk and we both have to put on our boots again . . . this is going to get VERY old, very fast . . . !

My love to all,

Parka

Hi Parka,

Welcome home! You are even more beautiful than Dad described you!

I am SO glad that you and Richard are home at last. I really missed him, and have been anticipating your arrival for weeks.

Cuzzie seems to be adjusting to her "big" sister easily - giving her your bone was a great idea!

I think we are all pretty worn out and need a good night's sleep. IN the morning, I will drive you and Dad to his office where you will meet Annie. You'll love her!

OK, Rowdy Girl - nightie night.

Love, YOM (Your Other Mother)

Hi Parka (and Richard)- I can't remember if I've commented before, but I'm a puppy being raised just up (down? not exactly sure where you are) the road from you in Boulder and have been following along for a few months now. Welcome home! Sorry about the snow and freezing weather though... what a brisk welcome you are getting! If you are ever bored while your dad is working, you can read about my adventures on my mom's blog at http://lifewiththedogs.blogspot.com/ I have an older sister named Angel who coughed when she pulled in training so she came home a month ago. I also have an older brother who is like your predecessor Zane and decided that working was a little too stressful so he came home last month too! Anyway, maybe I'll meet you someday at a GDB workshop or something. I think you are REALLY cute and you sound very smart! I know I am probably a little young for you, but I am very mature for 7 months old!

Welcome home Parka. Must be quite a shock coming from sunny California to Colorado with all that fluffy white stuff everywhere. It's not so bad though. You will get used to it. Glad you and your dad made it home safe. :)

Hi YOM,

You know, I'm happy to be in Denver with Richard. But this weather is for penguins, not dogs!

When I came outside at the airport, I could not believe that there was ice and cold water everywhere. I was doing a 3-legged dance just to keep one paw warm!

I look forward to getting to know Cuzzie, YOM and grandam. Can I call you Mom?

Thanks for keeping me warm!

Love, Parka

Douglas,

You sure are going to be a "hunk." I like younger boys, but you might be a little too young. Heh, big boy, when you gorw up a little more, why don't you come see me, big boy!

I can't believe you like this cold weather? Dad keeps putting those silly booties on me, but I guess I need them, because it's just too darn cold out here?

Thanks for the welcome home and it sounds like you have a house full of good looking dogs. Send me some pictures!

Talk to you later, gater, Parka
